Here in Hervey Bay, we are spoiled for choice when it comes to the plethora of exciting events. This local calendar can easily be accessed on the website www.events.visitfrasercoast.com and is instrumental in its intent to appeal to absolutely everyone in the community. These programs also attract a wide variety of visitors to explore the benefits and beauty of the Fraser Coast region.
The Relish Food and Wine Festival, this year on June 6, is so popular, blending fine food and wines with live entertainment and ticketed sessions of interest.
Of course, nothing compares to the arrival of the humpback whales every year. This creates several traditional events in 2026; key events include the Blessing of the Fleet on July 10, the main festivities, the City and Sea and Parade of Lights on August 29, and Paddle Out for Whales on August 30.
The much-loved Fraser Coast Agricultural Show, this year beginning on May 21, is a premier family event with a ‘Fantastic Kidz’ corner, Circus, Fireworks, great exhibitions and more.
Throughout the year, there are national sporting events such as Triathlon, Touch Football, Yachting, and more.
These events contribute to the almost one million visitors a year, and in recent years and significant population growth. People are moving to Hervey Bay for its excellent climate, strong economic prospects, job opportunities, affordability compared to larger cities and vibrant community.
